Understanding Publisher Dashboard Widgets

Introduction

Publisher dashboards often include several widgets that summarize performance at a glance. This article explains the most common widgets and how to read them.

Revenue and Performance Widgets

Revenue Summary Widget

Shows earnings for a selected period such as today, yesterday, or the last seven days. You can usually:

  • Change the date range using a selector.
  • Switch between gross revenue and net revenue if available.
  • Hover over a line or bar to see the exact value for a specific day.

Performance Metrics Widget

Displays core metrics like impressions, clicks, and click-through rate. Typical layout:

  • One card per metric with a value and percent change.
  • Colour or icons to show positive or negative trends.

Important: Always check the date range used by each widget so you compare like for like when you review trends.

Top Performing Sites or Ad Units

Many dashboards include a widget that lists the best performing sites or ad units for the selected period. Use it to:

  1. Identify which placements generate most revenue.
  2. Spot units that suddenly moved up or down the list.
  3. Decide where to focus optimization work first.

Using Widgets to Decide What To Do Next

  • If revenue is stable but impressions dropped, check whether a site integration changed.
  • If one site is driving most earnings, review its placements for ideas you can copy to other sites.
  • If click-through rate is low across all units, consider testing less intrusive formats or better placement.
