How to create a Banner (Display) campaign?
Creating a Banner Campaign
Banner campaigns display image (or HTML) ads across our network of websites and apps. This guide will walk you through the campaign wizard step by step, detailing the banner sizes, targeting options, and tips you need along the way.
To start, go to Campaigns → Create Campaign and select Banner as your campaign type.
Banner campaigns are billed on a CPM basis — you pay per 1,000 impressions (the number of times your ad is shown).

Step 1 — Basic Info
In this section, you will name your campaign, describe what you’re promoting, and add your banner creatives.
Campaign Details
- Campaign name (required): Assign a clear name that you'll recognize later (3–200 characters).
- Description (optional): Provide a short note about the campaign (up to 1,000 characters).
- Ad vertical (required): Select the category that best aligns with your offer.
- Schedule (optional): Set a start and end date. If left blank, the campaign begins today and continues until you pause it.
- Campaign goal (optional): Choose what you're optimizing for (e.g., brand awareness, traffic, conversions). If you select a conversion-based goal, you will be prompted for a target cost per action.
Creatives (Your Banners)
You can add 1 to 5 creatives. Each banner needs:
- Banner size (required): Choose one of the supported sizes (see below).
- Banner image (required): Upload an image; you’ll crop it to the exact size. (Alternatively, switch to HTML tag mode to paste a third-party ad tag instead.)
- Title (required): Up to 50 characters.
- Destination URL (required): The page users land on after clicking. You can incorporate tracking macros here; refer to the Destination URL Tracking Macros article.
Tip: The banner type (image vs HTML) is locked once the campaign is created, so make your decision before saving.
Supported Banner Sizes
Size | Name |
|---|---|
300 × 250 | Medium Rectangle |
320 × 50 | Mobile Leaderboard |
728 × 90 | Leaderboard |
300 × 100 | Large Mobile Banner |
320 × 480 | Mobile Interstitial |
Image Guidelines
- Maximum file size: 1 MB
- Accepted formats: JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, BMP
- Your image will be cropped to the exact dimensions of the size you select, so use artwork that closely matches that shape for optimal results.
Tip: Add several sizes as separate creatives to maximize placements — different websites and apps prefer different banner sizes.
Step 2 — Targeting
Determine who sees your ads and where. Everything here is optional — if you leave a section empty, your ads will run as broadly as possible for that setting.
Geographic Targeting
- Select the countries you want to target. Leaving this empty means your ads will run worldwide.
- You can also narrow your target to specific regions within a country.
- Countries are grouped into tiers that affect the minimum bid.
Device & Technology
- Device type: Desktop, mobile, tablet, TV, and more.
- Operating system: e.g., Windows, Android, iOS (with versions).
- Browser: Target specific browsers if needed.
- Connection type: Any, Wi-Fi/cable, or cellular.
- Traffic type: Websites, in-app, or both.
- Carrier: Target specific mobile networks (useful for cellular targeting).
Quick presets like Mobile, Desktop, or Mobile App allow you to set common combinations with a single click.
Schedule (Dayparting)
- Choose the days and hours of the week when your ads should run. By default, ads run at all times.
IP & Domain Lists
- Utilize allowlists (to show ads only on listed items) or blocklists (to never show ads on listed items) for IPs and domains. You can create new lists directly from this step.
Tip: Start broad. Over-targeting at launch can limit your delivery. Narrow your targeting once you identify which placements perform best.
Step 3 — Budget & Launch
Set your budget and review everything before going live.
Budget Settings
- Bid (CPM) (required): This is the amount you will pay per 1,000 impressions. The minimum is $0.20. A recommended bid will be shown to help you stay competitive.
- Total budget (optional): This is the lifetime spend cap. If set, it must be at least $50. Leave blank for no limit.
- Daily cap (optional): The maximum you’ll spend per day. If set, it must be at least $10.
- Pacing: Choose to spend as fast as possible (ASAP) or spread evenly across the day.
- Frequency cap (optional): Limit how many times the same person sees your ad (1–100).
Review and Launch
The final step presents a readiness checklist that highlights any missing or invalid items. Once everything is confirmed, click Create Campaign to launch.
Tip: A higher bid and a clear, relevant banner typically secure more (and better) placements. If your campaign isn’t generating impressions, consider raising your bid or broadening your targeting.
