Sticky and Floating Publisher Units: UX and Policy

Introduction

Sticky or floating units stay visible while users scroll. This article explains when to use them and what to watch for from a UX and policy perspective.

Common Sticky Positions

  • Bottom-of-screen bars on mobile.
  • Sidebar units that follow scroll on desktop.
  • Header units that remain at the top after scrolling.

UX and Policy Considerations

  1. Do not cover important content or navigation controls.
  2. Provide a visible close or dismiss option where required.
  3. Limit the number of sticky units to avoid overwhelming the page.

Important: Review platform and policy guidelines before enabling sticky or floating behavior.
