# Banner Ad Units for Publishers: Specs and Placement

## Introduction

Banner units are one of the most common publisher formats. This article covers basic specs and recommended placements without going into other formats.

## Recommended Banner Sizes

Common banner sizes include:

* 728x90 for desktop headers.
* 300x250 for in-content or sidebar areas.
* 320x50 for mobile headers or footers.
* and all other popular banner sizes. 

Always check the size options supported in your ad unit creation screen.

## Placement Guidelines

1. Use a 728x90 near the top of desktop pages, above or just below the main content.
2. Use 300x250 units inside long articles or in a clear sidebar zone.
3. On mobile, place 320x50 units at the top or stuck to the bottom, avoiding overlap with navigation.

| **Tip:** Keep enough space around banners so they are clearly separated from navigation links.
